Faculty development at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies received a huge boost thanks to the newly endowed Robert and Betty Lundeen Fund for Junior Faculty Development.  

Recent Middlebury Institute graduates Ryan Genzoli, Anthony Musa, Kyle Pilutti, and Thais Ramo were each offered a full-time, salaried one-year fellowship with the National Nuclear Security Administration.

“The ultimate objective is to destroy democracies from the inside out, to discredit elected officials and shape opinions,” says alumnus Clint Watts about  Russia’s attempts to disrupt the political process in the United States.

Alumna Maame Alice Yelbert-Sai is passionate about being what she calls a “whole woman,” bringing all of who she is to everything she does. “For me leadership is at its roots simple – it starts with self-understanding.”

An ag-tech enterprise founded by four Middlebury Institute alumni out of a classroom project continues to flourish.

As we bid farewell to 2017, we would like to share a few important stories from another great year at the Institute – and wish you peace and happiness this holiday season and in the year to come.

Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov spoke to faculty and students at the Middlebury Institute on a wide range of topics during an invitation-only seminar on Thursday, November 30th.

Two Middlebury Institute students took home first and third place in the 44th Annual Japanese Speech Contest held in San Francisco earlier this month.

Fangdi Pan MANPTS ’15 and Juan Sebastián Muñoz Rivera Midd ’13 have been awarded Schwarzman scholarships. 

Earlier this year, Middlebury Institute alumna Elayne Whyte Goméz led efforts to negotiate the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons as ambassador of Costa Rica to the United Nations in Geneva.
