Dutch Girl Farm

dutch-girl-farmCompany / Owner Bio

Dutch Girl Farms creates wholesome preserves and fermentations from local ingredients around the Monterey Bay area. Owner Kerstin Parr is better known as Zusje (pronounced soo-sha), a nickname meaning “little sister” given her by her older brother. Zusje grew up in Los Gatos, CA area where English was spoken by her father, Dutch by her mother, and the rich European history was passed on by her grandmother who spent half her time in Holland and half here in California. Now a mother herself, Zusje packs a little love and family along with fresh local produce in every jar.

How does your company reflect its ethics?

Local goods, locally made. Dutch girl farm uses all natural ingredients in their jams and mustards. We only use the natural pectin found in the fruit we use for our jams, using traditional old school canning methods. Our mustards are made from whole grain mustard seeds, blended with fruit, spices, and herbs to create unusual flavors.

What do you hope to share and/or learn at CSIL’s Holiday Pop Up Market?

The value of making natural wholesome food with local product.
