Etkie

etkie_logoCompany / Owner Bio

Etkie is a jewelry company that works with Native American artisans in New Mexico to create beaded jewelry that is now sold in over 90 high end boutiques across the globe. We’ve created jobs for six and (soon to be 9!) Navajo beaders who were formally unemployed (now if working full time they can make up to $40K) and most importantly, Etkie has provided a platform for their talent to be appreciated.

How does your company reflect its ethics?

We live in a world where fast and cheap is the new norm. We have become overwhelmed by technology and often desensitized to the reality of our fellow humans. While we are more connected than ever before, we are becoming more disconnected from the very elements that define us. Across the globe, traditions, cultures and heritage are vanishing.

At Etkie, we believe beauty is in the process. Inspired by the landscape and culture of the Southwest, we collaborate with Native American artisans in New Mexico to create handmade jewelry that infuses traditional techniques with modern design.

Our business model is simple. We invest in people. From customers who become our best brand advocates to our artisans who infuse their time and energy into every single piece, we appreciate you.

We have embarked on a journey to create a brand where fashion is a force for good and where quality products benefit the communities that make them. We believe that we wear reminds us of who we are and who we can become. We believe beauty is enriching human potential.

What do you hope to share and/or learn at CSIL’s Holiday Pop Up Market?

We hope to share our business model with other aspiring social entrepreneurs.
