Sasa Designs

sasa-designs_logoCompany / Owner Bio

As President of Sasa Designs, Megan has been with the organization since shortly after it was founded to employ and empower Deaf women in Kenya. Having lived and worked in Kenya off and on since 2008, her focus at Sasa Designs is long-term employment and supply chain interventions to create high end products at an affordable price point. Sasa Designs has recently expanded to partner with artisans in Zambia, Haiti and Mexico who also face physical and geographic challenges to accessing markets.

How does your company reflect its ethics?

Our mission is: Every item, handmade. Every design, life changing. Every artisan, empowered. We are very selective with our partners, identifying market opportunities through careful product development based on core skills and local traditions. We prioritize working with artisans who have extreme challenges to market access – especially those with physical disabilities. We also focus on local leadership and capacity building – making long term commitments to our partners through design, supply chain and sales interventions.

What do you hope to share and/or learn at CSIL’s Holiday Pop Up Market?

We love learning about others doing work like this, and new models for impact.
