Festivities without Borders

The day was Saturday, May 2nd. The time was 10:00am.

Vicky, Seham and I were walking from the ESL Kinnoull House, towards Alvarado street in Downtown Monterey. The morning was slightly cloudy. A gentle breeze brushed against our clothes and skin. As we continued walking, the penetrating beating of drums became louder, telling us that we were getting closer.

And then we arrived.

We enjoyed the parade of the different cultures represented in the city of Monterey, including Chinese, Turkish, Korean, Saudi Arabian, and others.

The festival itself culminated at the Custom House Plaza, next to Fisherman’s Wharf. There were a number of booths for food and gifts, including a booth for our own school, MIIS!

On Friday, May  8th, there will be another language festival at DLI! Meet us at the Kinnoull House at 12:00pm (after class) and we will walk to the DLI!
