Fall 2015 Kick Off Activity: Sports and Beach Day!

After two weeks of in-school activities including orientation, placement, and class, it was time to get out and enjoy the fresh Monterey air!  And last Saturday we did just that!

A group of students (including some from Russia, China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Germany, and Korea), a teacher and her son and son’s friend, and I met at the picnic tables next to the beach in town.  We had some fruit (and a delicious cake made by one of our teachers to celebrate a birthday!), but most of our day was spent playing sports and games.

We played frisbee, soccer, volleyball, hot potato, and charades all while listening to the sounds of the waves, seagulls, or the “Whip Nae-Nae” song from our neighbors.  I learned a lot about these wonderful people on this trip, and I look forward to hanging out with them and exploring Monterey and the surrounding area more!
