About

The Frontier Market Scouts Program was founded in 2011.  The program seeks to select and train aspiring professionals who desire a career in social venture and impact investing.

Jointly developed by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, Sanghata Global, and Village Capital, the Frontier Market Scouts (FMS) program turns compassionate and capable young professionals into talent scouts and investment managers serving local entrepreneurs and social-minded investors in low-income and weak-capital regions of the world.

The scouts provide due diligence for investors and technical assistance for entrepreneurs with the goal of generating high-quality deal flows and supporting portfolio companies at a low cost.

A Scouts’ mission is to enable the enterprising poor to scale poverty alleviation in capital-weak areas of emerging markets, while gaining career defining and life changing experience.  To learn more or to apply, visit: www.fmscouts.org.

This is an excellent program and I’m especially delighted to know that the great Monterey Institute of International Studies, in keeping with its long tradition of developing high-calibre manpower for the management of our dynamic global village, has once again shown leadership in introducing a course that will no doubt directly impact the enterprising poor, talented entrepreneurs, and even governmental institutions all over the world’s emerging economies.
