Call for Applications, Clinton Global Initiative

Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.

Each year, CGI U hosts a meeting for students, national youth organizations, and university officials to discuss solutions to pressing global issues. The third annual CGI U Meeting will be held at the University of Miami from April 16-18, 2010. At this meeting, nearly 1,500 attendees will come together to make a difference in CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment & Climate Change, Peace & Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health.

CGI U 2010 will take place at the University of Miami from April 16-18, 2010. All students who wish to attend must submit an application. Each application is thoroughly reviewed by the CGI U team. CGI U actively seeks a range of students who have a variety of experiences, interests, talents, and goals.

All students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please be sure you have reviewed the application checklist before proceeding. The early decision deadline for the CGI U 2010 application is November 20, 2009, and the final application deadline is February 1, 2010.

Last year, Bree Bacon (MPA 2009) and Lorraine Githiora (MPA 2010) presented their proposal in Austin, TX to establish an electronic network of human rights organizations in Monterey County.  The proposal will be a means of linking the community to resources in each city in the county, and will identify the organizations and individuals that are leaders in specific areas of interest.  Read about it here: http://www.allbusiness.com/education-training/students-student-life/12072257-1.html.
