In a competition to strategize ways to reduce the environmental impact of college campuses, students from MIIS took home the top prize. Net Impact, a non-profit that advocates for colleges to adopt better environmental practices, selected the team from MIIS as exemplars of tomorrow’s business leaders.

Their plan included water saving techniques and ways to reduce carbon emissions from electricity. The energy efficiency upgrades outlined practical cost savings that can be replicated as a best practice on several campuses, garnering the team a $1,000 prize.

“The students from Monterey,” said David Wallace, xpedx Director of Sustainability, “did the best job of aligning their plans with xpedx’s commitment to maintain sustainable operations and provide leadership in sustainable business practices.”
