Frontier Market Scouts
The Frontier Market Scouts Program selects and trains aspiring professionals who desire a career in social venture and impact investing.
Jointly developed and managed by the Monterey Institute, Sanghata Global, and Village Capital, the Frontier Market Scouts (FMS) program turns compassionate and capable young professionals into talent scouts and investment managers serving local entrepreneurs and social-minded investors in low-income and weak-capital regions of the world.
The scouts provide due diligence for investors and technical assistance for entrepreneurs with the goal of generating high-quality deal flows and supporting portfolio companies at a low cost.
The Scouts’ mission is to enable the enterprising poor to scale poverty alleviation in capital-weak areas of emerging markets, while gaining career defining and life changing experience.
Looking for Virtual Scouts:
The Virtual Scout component of FMS is an assistant role to in-the-field scouts. Virtual Scouts act as research, marketing and outreach assistant as well as translators. Each assignment is location specific, so there are no set duties. The workload also varies depending on the scout’s activities (no more than 3-5 hours per week). This is a volunteer opportunity tailored to gain insight into the social entrepreneurship environment of each specific location. Our current FM Scouts are in South Africa, Brazil, Kenya, Guatemala, China, Turkey and México. Spring 2013 locations will be announced February 2013.
Requirements:
· Interest in social/impact investing (no previous experience in the field is required
· Fluency in English is a must, fluency in other languages- Arabic, Turkish, Spanish, French, Portuguese are a plus
· Research skills, marketing, sales and business management experience preferred but not required
· Experience using Google Docs & Excel, web programming
· Self motivated and driven
· Available to work during school semesters and ready to start ASAP
