Terrorism Expert, Dr. Timothy Wilson to speak on “The Poverty of Ahistoricism” this Friday, March 29th.

Tim WilsonMonTREP and the Nonproliferation & Terrorism Studies program will be sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Timothy Wilson, of  The Handa, Centre for the Study of Terrorism & Political Violence at St. Andrews University in Scotland. The lecture will be held this upcoming Friday, March 29 from 12:15 – 2:00 PM in McGowan 102.

Dr. Wilson’s research and teaching focuses upon comparative approaches to the study of inter-communal violence across Europe and the Middle East. He studied history at Oxford University in the early 1990’s before working in the community sector in Belfast during the peace process years in Northern Ireland. He obtained a Master’s degree in Comparative Ethnic Conflict at Queen’s, Belfast, and a Doctoral thesis at Oxford University. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Queen’s, Belfast and Oxford Brookes. He joined St Andrews in 2011 from Oxford University where he was a Departmental Lecturer in Modern History.
