Celebrate Food Day with a Vegan Cookoff and More!

Get your tastebuds prepped for an awesomely organic Vegan Cookoff on April 16th at 5pm! The cookoff caps a delicious day of events:

12:00-1:00– ” A grass-fed cattlerancher, a local fishmonger and a vegan walk into a restaurant. . . who has the biggest environmental footprint?” This sustainability debate will take place in Irvine Auditorium with Cattle Rancher Mark Shelly, Fishmonger Alan Lovewell, and IEP Program Chair and vegan Jason Scorse.

1:00-2:00– “Food Justice Internationally and Locally”: Approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of food is lost or wasted evey year. Meanwhile, there are 925 million people go hungry daily. Eric Holt-Jimenez of Food First and other panelists will discuss our food systems here and abroad.

4:00– Tour of Whole Foods: Want to know what a sustainable diet includes? Take a tour of Whole Foods with us and find out! Jason Scorse will be touring Whole Foods and teaching us how to buy and eat vegan– and more importantly, sustain a healthy lifestyle.

5:00– Vegan Cookoff begins!!! Come and join us for FREE FOOD AND DRINKS! There are great prizes for the winners and for everyone who brings a dish to the party! It’s going to be a great time, so don’t miss out
