Anya Erokhina

Master of Arts in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies 

IPSS Assignment: United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs New York City, New York (Spring/Summer 2011)

Anya Erokhina received her B.A. in International Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley.  While earning her degree in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies at the Monterey Institute, she worked at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies, the Naval Post Graduate School, and Lawrence Livermore National Labs researching international nuclear programs, proliferation trends, and nuclear safeguards, respectively. A keen interest in diplomacy and arms control has naturally led her to complete her IPSS assignment at the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs.  There, she contributed to the Secretariat’s work pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1540 and provided substantive support to the UN Disarmament Commission.  Anya enjoys language study and having learned Russian and Spanish, she is now tackling Arabic through the Boren Fellowship in Egypt. Upon graduating from MIIS, Anya will go on to serve as a Nunn-Lugar Fellow at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
