Immersive learning is a cornerstone of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) pedagogical philosophy for helping students develop the skills and knowledge needed for building a better world.
We believe immersive learning occurs when students step outside of the traditional role of teacher and student. MIIS students apply critical thinking to complex global issues while collaborating with local and international clients across a range of diverse organizations.
Immersive Learning Programs at MIIS include internships, IPSS, J-term & Spring Practica, summer opportunities, and directed studies.
