San Francisco Estuary Partnership, Oakland, CA

I had an amazing experience this summer working with the San Francisco Estuary Partnership in Oakland. From the first day, I could see that I would be given a great deal of responsibility and that my experience would depend on my ability to bring passion to my work. I was tasked with writing a report on a law called “Private Sewer Lateral Ordinance.” This law helps promote upgrades to privately owned portions of sewer systems, which are major sources of sewage pollution entering the San Francisco Bay. I learned so much by working on this report and feel that I have made a valuable contribution to the group that I worked for. I look forward to seeing the fruits of my labor in the coming months, as my report is utilized in the policy process of Bay Area governments.
