President Ron Liebowitz will give an interview in Washington, D.C. reflecting on his time as Middlebury's 16th president on Monday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Frank Sesno, a member of Middlebury's class of 1977 and former correspondent, anchor, and Washington bureau chief for CNN, will interview Liebowitz at the Middlebury in D.C. offices. Spring Break at MIIS: Students Deepen Understanding of Policy Issues in East Asia

Middlebury Institute faculty members Tsuneo Akaha and Wei Liang are co-teaching a seminar on “East Asia: Foreign Policy, Trade and Security” this spring semester. As part of the seminar they organized a spring break trip to Beijing, in Professor Liang’s native China, and Tokyo, in Professor Akaha’s native Japan. Center for Social Impact Learning Launches with Focus on Millennial Engagement

The Center for Social Impact Learning (CSIL) at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies is celebrating its official launch with a full day of events on Wednesday, March 25th. CSIL was founded to advance millennial engagement in the emerging fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing through academics, experiential opportunities and active research. Its programs include the popular Frontier Market Scouts fellowship program for young professionals and graduate students seeking a career in the field of social enterprise management and impact investing, and the Ambassador Corps, a cross-cultural training and internship field placement program providing valuable international professional experience for undergraduate students. Continue Reading →

MIIS Hosts Successful Career Fairs on Both Coasts

In March, MIIS held two successful career fairs, one in San Francisco and one in Washington, D.C.

At the Policy and Management Career Fair in San Francisco on Friday, March 13th, there were 25 employer organizations, 100 current students, and 10 alumni present.

At the Policy and Management Career Fair in Washington, D.C. on Friday, March 20th, there were 15 employer organizations, 40 current students, and 10 alumni present.

Professor Heekyeong Lee Publishes Book

TESOL/TFL professor Heekyeong Lee's co-authored book, the 4th edition of "Teaching by Principles: An Interactive Approach to Language Pedagogy," has recently been published and is now available on Amazon. "Teaching by Principles" is a textbook that is used worldwide in graduate and upper undergraduate teacher education programs in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) as well as in foreign language education programs. Learn More →

We were on our way to compete against nearly 50 other schools in the 2015 Regional Hult Competition.
