An assignment for my Comparative International Education course this fall has been to extensively study the education system of another country. The project has involved in-class discussion, a five minute presentation, a comparative analysis paper with another student, and a theoretical analysis paper connecting a theory with a problem within the country’s education system. The final part of the study has been to complete a website, and my research can be viewed throughout the various links on the right hand side of this page.
I studied the education system and country of Iceland. Within the past year, it has quickly become a place I hope to visit at some point in my life.
While I knew the country was home to stunning landscapes, glacier lakes, hot springs pools, and tiny houses, I did not have much background on the people and felt that studying their education system would be a good start. This project has allowed me to learn an extensive amount about the people, government, education, and cultural roots of the country. I highly recommend you watch the following music video, as it was filmed in Iceland and will give you a view of the country’s beauty: Bon Iver//Holocene
