Finally met up with the captain of KAI marine services after some change of plans with the boat and project for Malta. After staying a few extra days visiting Rainey with amazing hospitality at her internship in Galway Ireland, we finally got word from Ana and Ric and took a flight from Dublin to Madrid!

First day of work starts today with a crash course in ecology and what research we’ll be doing on the boat! The plan to sail from Malta changed with issues in the Malta government, but no worries we’re now working on a project called the Oasis tracking Cetaceans and sea turtles. We’ll be taking the boat from the balearic islands in a couple of days mainly off the island of Menorca.
