这个星期我们在乒乓球赛结束以后进行了书法活动。中国书法真的是一种很美的艺术！我们了解了汉字书法的八个基本比划，大家逐一练习，最后都用毛笔写出了自己名字！都很不错！

中文组乒乓球比赛!
今天在Holland Center举行了我们中文组的乒乓球比赛。比赛非常激烈，参赛的同学水平都非常高，大家都发挥出了自己最高的水平！赛制为三盘两胜，每盘十一球。比赛分别在男生组和女生组进行，女生组由吴倚恩胜出，男生组由康士聪胜出。冠军最终在吴倚恩和康士聪中决出。比赛进行地如火如荼，最终康士聪以二比零战胜吴倚恩挺进决赛。周五，他将代表中文组进行SILP的决赛。希望他最后会获得好成绩！加油！

三番之行 Trip to San Francisco
昨天我们中文学生一起去了三藩市！从蒙特雷到三藩市要开两个小时的车，感谢当司机的同学们，你们辛苦了！到了三番以后，我们去了中国城的一家广东餐厅吃点心。大家都很喜欢吃呢！吃完点心以后我们一起逛了一下中国城，而且还参观了一个“幸运饼干”工厂。虽然在中国我们没有“幸运饼干”，但是这是一个中美文化交流的产物，所以大家都觉得很有意思。无论对于美国人还是中国人来说都是很新鲜的一件事情。但灌完中国城以后，我们还去了九曲花街和金门大桥。这一次旅行大家都很开心！因为大家可以认出不少汉字了!

We are going to San Francisco! Next Saturday, July 11th (the day after the mid-term exam), the weekly activity of the Chinese Program will be a trip to San Francisco. SILP regulates that teachers cannot drive students, so we need some volunteer drivers. We will cover the gas money. BUT, due to the limited budget we have, people who want to go has to chip in $10 for lunch. Please sign up the google sheet if you want to take this trip. If you don’t have a car or have no food allergy, just leave it blank.（only for SILP Chinese students）

The estimated time to leave Monterey is 8:45 am. We will have Dim Sum for lunch in Chinatown and then visit a Fortune Cookie Factory in Chinatown. After that, we will set you free. It is your free time to explore San Francisco. You can visit the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Lombard Street and/or the Golden Gate Bridge. Maybe even do some shopping!!! I think it is going to be fun! Don’t hesitate to join us!

包饺子真有意思
上个星期五，我们一起包饺子。饺子是中国饮食文化当中最重要的食物之一，逢年过节，每家每户都会包饺子，尤其是在北方。我相信同学们一定都吃过饺子，但是不一定包过饺子。这一次，我们大家一起洗菜、切菜、拌馅儿、包饺子还有煮饺子。大家吃到自己亲手包的饺子，都觉得特别幸福。我们准备了玉米鸡肉馅儿、芹菜牛肉馅儿和白菜猪肉馅儿，当然还有素饺。大家总共吃了300个饺子真不可思议！
Last Friday, we made dumplings together. Dumpling is one of the most important food in Chinese food culture. Every family, especially the one in the north, make dumplings during festivals. I believe that you definitely had had dumplings before but had not made dumplings by yourselves yet. For this time, we washed and chopped vegetables, mixed fillings, wrapped dumplings and cook them! Every one felt happy because we ate the dumplings made by our own. We had corn-chicken fillings, celery-beef fillings and cabbage-pork fillings. And of course we also had veggie dumplings. It’s unbelievable that we had 300 dumplings in total!

卡拉OK棒棒的！
星期五我们在Samson Student Center Reading Room举行了我们的中文卡拉OK活动，大家都玩得很开心！唱了中文歌的同学都可以加分或者减少一个背诵作业！哈哈！我们还学习了中国神曲《小苹果》，大家都跳得棒棒的！在这里感谢MIIS的media center给我们提供这么棒的器材！刚好星期六是中国的传统节日——端午节。这个是端午节的wikipedia。在端午节，我们会吃粽子！我们三位老师特地星期四开车去圣荷西买了粽子给大家吃，从蒙特雷去圣荷西来回要三个小时哦！感觉大家也都吃得很开心。所以，让我们一起期待下个星期的活动吧！
This Friday, we held a Chinese Karaoke Party at Samson Student Center Reading Room. Everybody had fun! Students who sang Chinese song can get extra credits or replace a recitation homework. We also learned the dance move of Chinese ‘Shenqu’ ‘Little Apple’. Thanks for the Media Center that provided us such great equipment. Saturday is Duanwu Festival(Dragon Boat Festival) and here is the wikipedia link of Dragon Boat Festival. We eat Zongzi(rice dumpling) on this festival. Tian Laoshi, Ye Laoshi and I drove 3 hours from Monterey to San Jose to buy Zongzi for you. I think that everybody enjoyed zongzi very much. So, we can now look forward to the activity next week!
一起来唱K！Karaoke Party!
不知不觉又来到第二周了！这个星期我们的活动是唱卡拉OK！在中文我们可以直接说唱K，这是年轻人常用的说法。唱K是中国的年轻人喜欢的放松方式。不论你唱得好不好，都欢迎大家在星期五的下午三点到五点到我们的Samson Student Center Reading Room唱K！唱中文歌或者英文课都可以，当然我们更希望你们能唱中文歌。考完试值得好好轻松一下！周五见！
Here comes our second week in SILP! This week, the weekly activity is Karaoke Party! In Chinese, se can say “chang(forth tone) K”, this is the form used in young generation.”chang(forth tone) K” is a way for Young people to relax. Please come and join the Karaoke Party in theSamson Student Center Reading Room from 3:00pm to 5:00pm whether you sing well or not. You can sing Chinese songs or English songs, of course we hope that you’d better sing Chinese songs. You deserve a nice relaxation after the weekly exam. See you on Friday!
中文电影好看！中国菜好吃！
第一周的活动结束了！在第一个周五的下午，大家很开心地看了《中国合伙人》这部电影。相信它让大家都看到了中国人有多努力学习英语， 也希望它激发了大家在这个夏天认真学习中文的热情。我们还给大家订了蒙特雷最好吃的中国菜！大家都很喜欢，因为我们把菜都吃完了！
大家很喜欢今天的活动，所以我们还会有第二个电影之夜！太棒了！
The first weekly activity just finished! We watched “American dreams in China” happily together. I think that it shows that how much effort Chinese people has made to study English and hope that will inspire your passion to study Chinese hard this summer! We also ordered the best Chinese food in Monterey. Everybody enjoyed the food because we did not have any leftover!
Today’s activity is quite successful, so we will have a second Movie Night. Awesome!
