SILP Japanese 2013

みなさん、こんにちは！

ついにさいごの週（しゅう）もおわりにちかづいてきましたね。

Just wanted to update you again on the farewell lunch this Friday.

It will take place in CF452 and we will starting setting up the room from 12:00.

So if you are free please come at 12:00 to help us. Bentos will arrive around 12:15 so drinks and snacks can be prepared in the meantime.

Also, we will carry out everything in Japanese. Don’t worry, be confident. You HAVE improved a lot! More than you think you have 😉

This has been a great time for me being an activity guide for you and I have to say, I will miss you tremendously. I cannot feel happier to think that now we have more Japanese speakers in the world 🙂 You have been such great students and language learners and I am so proud of you.

Friday: Bowling Tournament!!!(8:30 pm for an hour)

It is sponsored by Enrollment Management at MIIS and Summer Language Programs (SILP, ESL, Fulbright, EPGS)! We can be a SILP Japanese team and sign up! Please let me know whoever’s interested to play 🙂

Saturday: Lunch in Carmel (11am~3pm)

We will have Japanese lunch in Carmel at Robata (http://www.restauranteur.com/robatacarmelcom/menu.htm) from 11:30.

Then we will head to Carmel to explore the town for those who haven’t visited Carmel yet. For information about Carmel, click this link: http://www.carmelcalifornia.com/ We will come back to Monterey by 3pm.

We will need volunteers for driving again for this event!

Remember, this is the last weekend in the program! I know it is going to be before the finals but hope you can all make it 🙂

場所（ばしょ）は、わたしのむかしの家（いえ）です。

The place is my old apartment. I can still use the living room so we’ll have the event there.

PLEASE BRING YOUR DRINKS as I will not prepare any.

みなさん　こんばんは。

しゅくだいは、どうですか。

Now that we have started our 2nd session, I have a new tutor schedule starting tomorrow.

Please note the changes:

1. There will be no assigned sessions.

2. Therefore, please sign-up beforehand by noon of that day (in any of the white cells). If you still see a white cell, you may stop by. Although there may be a chance that I may not be at my cube if you had not signed-up by noon.

3. I will have conversation sessions with each of the levels. For example, on Mondays, I will have a conversation session with both of the elementary students, and Wednesday, with all the Intermediate students.

Please let me know if you have any questions 🙂

I will show おくりびと(Departures) this week! It’s a great movie which won the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film in 2009.

みなさん　こんにちは。

There seemed to be a confusion among some of us (or was it just me?) about our lunch table, so I’m announcing for this week.

Tomorrow, we will not have lunch table, since your fluency component (しょどう) is starting a little early.

I will post again for next week( might consider changing days if Friday is not possible).

みなさん、こんにちは。

来週（らいしゅう）もアクティビティが盛り（もり）だくさんです！

Wednesday:

I had totally forgotten that I had scheduled SHORINJIKENPO for Wednesday. So NO movie night this week…

It’s a type of martial arts and one of my friends who is in the Japanese Navy of Self Defense Force is welcoming us to visit his class in seaside and let us see some parts of the lesson. The class is for two hours from 6pm to 8pm, but we will just go for the first hour.

Time and Place to meet: 5:30pm in the library parking lot

Again, we need drivers! Please let me know if you can volunteer to drive 🙂

書道(しょどう）= Calligraphy   day!!!!! 🙂 It’ll be during your class hours. Yay!

Time: 12:30~2:30 

Place: TBD 

書道をしたことがありますか？わたしは小学生（しょうがくせい）のときに、習（なら）っていました。しかし、字（じ）は、へたくそです。。

We will use real Shodo kits so get excited!! 😀

Saturday: 

山（やま）は、好（す）きですか？If the weather’s good, we will go hiking to Big Sur/Point Lobos!

It’ll be a joint activity with EPGS students (English Preparation for Graduate Studies) who will be MIIS graduate students in FALL and are now working on improving their academic English. I’m assuming maybe around 5 students will come from EPGS and you guys, so around 10~15 total.

ビッグサーは、とてもきれいです！I will announce the time and place again, but probably it’ll be around noon!
