Every Friday at the Samson Student Center Café, Aqua Terra will have a Flat Bread Special. For today they are serving Zesty Tomato Sauce, Manchego, Salami and Basil. This is also served with Arugula Salad with Apples, Goat Cheese for $7.00.

Friendly Reminder: on-site flu vaccination clinic will be held today, October 23rd from 11am-2pm in the Samson Reading Room.

This week, October 20 – 24, 2014, Aqua Terra at the Samson Student Center is having a Carnitas Street Tacos with a sweet chili pineapple salsa!  3 tacos for $6.00. What a deal!

The annual on-campus vaccination clinic will be held on-site on October 23, 2014 from 11am- 2pm in the Samson Reading Room. The flu vaccines will be administered by the Central Coast Visiting Nurse Association (CCVNA), a local non-profit organization.  You will receive immunizations from experienced, professional, registered nurses and revenue from the program is reinvested back into our community to provide home care and hospice services to the uninsured and under-insured.

What is the cost for the flu shot?  The influenza vaccine is $35 per person.

  • Flu shots are covered under our plan (CBA Blue, Blue Shield/ Blue Cross of CA) at 100%.  CBA Blue, Blue Cross/Blue Shield card must be presented at time of vaccination.
  • Flu shots are covered under student medical plan (Anthem Blue Cross) at 100%. Anthem Blue Cross card must be presented at time of vaccination.
  • Flu shots are a covered benefit under Medicare Part B; card must be presented at time of vaccination.
  • For other payments, CCVNA accepts cash or checks payable to CCVNA.

Who can receive the flu shot?

  • CCVNA will administer influenza vaccine to adults and children (two years and older with parental/guardian consent).
  • Flu Mist is available to individuals ages 2 to 49 who are not pregnant and have no asthma or chronic medical conditions.
  • Preservative free shot is available for pregnant women  (Note: Pregnant individuals seeking Flu Mist or other form of the flu vaccination should have it performed in their OB-GYN’s office).

Congratulations are in order for the following Faculty and Staff:

Lisa Donohoe Luscombe is now Academic Coordinator & Curriculum Specialist for Custom Language Services (CLS).

Dr. Jason Martel is now Associate Director of the Summer Intensive Language Program (SILP).

Trish Aportela has been promoted to Operations Manager for GSTILE Language & Professional Programs.

Katie Dutcher has been promoted to Associate Director of Intensive English Programs.

The Staff Advisory Team would like to introduce Mr. Kenley Butler, Director of Development.  He is a familiar face to many of you.  But did you know he is also our constituent representative for Staff for the Board of Overseers. The MIIS Board of Overseers will focus their attention on reviewing and monitoring the operations of the Institute, including academic programs, enrollment, and new initiatives. His role is to take your questions and concerns to the Board of Overseers for review and consideration.
