The Staff Advisory Team would like to introduce Mr. Kenley Butler, Director of Development. He is a familiar face to many of you. But did you know he is also our constituent representative for Staff for the Board of Overseers. The MIIS Board of Overseers will focus their attention on reviewing and monitoring the operations of the Institute, including academic programs, enrollment, and new initiatives. His role is to take your questions and concerns to the Board of Overseers for review and consideration.
Please visit Kenley’s page on our Blog to share your questions and concerns that he can take to the Board of Overseers.

Hello MIIS Community!
The MIIS Outdoor Recreation Club (ODRC) has officially begun the Fall 2014 equipment rental season! We have tents, sleeping bags & pads, camping stoves, and other gear to rent out, all for a nominal fee.
Visit our website for a full list of gear and prices at http://sites.miis.edu/miisoutdoors/equipment-rentals/. Rentals typically last for 5 days (Thurs-Mon).
1. Once you know what you want to rent, email the ODRC at firstname.lastname@example.org requesting the quantity of your items at least 2 days in advance of the Thursday you’d like to start your rental.
2. Upon receiving a confirmation email, go to our rental site outside the Morse Building (on Van Buren St.) to pick up your gear. Don’t forget to bring exact cash or a check made out to The Monterey Institute! You will be asked to sign a rental agreement.
3. Meet with an ODRC rep the following Monday at the same place to return the gear.
The rental process is easy, cheap, and local! Please email with any questions. Happy Camping!

Just a reminder, Human Resources continues to make available staff development funds that support a variety of work-related activities to improve employee job skills. More detailed information can be found on the attached application http://www.miis.edu/media/view/30435/original/staff_development_fund.docx or on the HR web page: http://www.miis.edu/offices/humanresources/employee.
Funds allocated for staff development are limited and applications go through an approval process. Please do not make financial commitments until you receive an approval notification from HR. The maximum amount an employee may request is $1,250, though typical requests should be in the range of $500 to $750.
We hope you take advantage of this excellent opportunity for meeting staff development needs. If you have any questions about this benefit, please do not hesitate to contact me.
