The Student Council serves as the governing body for all students enrolled at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) at Monterey. It acts as a voice for the student body in communication with faculty and staff and is composed of students from all degree programs.
The purpose of the Student Council is to represent and address the needs and interests of the student body. It strives to facilitate communication and interaction between the Monterey Institute students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community, and shall sponsor various educational and social activities, which will further this purpose.
There are many different ways you can get involved in Student Council here at MIIS.
If you are interested in becoming a Committee Member or volunteering at events, keep an eye out on the website and the Facebook page. We will put out information as the need arises. Or, feel free to contact us directly using the form on our Contact Us page.
Committee members are expected to attend regular committee meetings and support the Committee Chair in the completion of tasks and duties. Check out our Committees page for a list of all our currently active committees.
We are usually in the most need for volunteers at the following events: monthly Student Council Happy Hours, Halloween Party, International Bazaar and Graduation Receptions.
If you are interested in sitting in on Student Council meetings and/or seeing what your program representatives are up to feel free to attend at your leisure. Check out our calendar page for more specific dates and times. If you don’t want to physically attend, you can always see exactly what is discussed and how your reps are voting by keeping up to speed on our Agendas & Minutes page. You can even discover how your student fees are being put to good use by staying up-to-date on Student Council’s Budget page.
