CNS Projects: Nuclear Weapon Dismantlement Verification

“During my summer research fellowship, I worked with Dr. Ferenc Dalnoki-Veresshe, the Scientist-in-Residence at CNS on a Nuclear Weapon Dismantlement Verification project. Together we designed a warhead dismantlement facility which enables a nuclear weapon state to dismantle a weapon while allowing a non-nuclear weapon state to inspect the disassembly process and ensuring the procedures are in compliance with the NPT. The research project does not necessarily relate to my academic or career interest, yet this experience has not only broadened my horizon but also developed my analytical thinking and problem solving skills. It is particularly exciting to work on this groundbreaking project because I was encouraged to think creatively and my contribution is highly valued. I am grateful to be able to work with some of the most brilliant minds in the nonproliferation field to tackle critical and complex problems. To describe my 10-week research fellowship as a rewarding experience is an understatement.”
