350.org event Poster Making

Last Thursday evening, on September 15th, a handful of SSC members gathered at the home of MIIS alumnus Jeff Condit to make posters for the upcoming Climate Change Awareness walk, a 350.org event, in Monterey.  The group wrote various climate change facts on pieces of cardboard. The facts will then be passed around during the event.

The Climate Change Awareness walk is a 3 mile walk around Lake El Estero in downtown Monterey following the predicted coastline if a 1-3 meter increase in sea level occurs.  Speakers include local government officials, sea level rise scientists from local research institutions, and academics, who will provide insights and possible solutions to the challenges of climate change in Monterey Bay.

The Climate Change Awareness Walk will take place on Saturday, September 24th from 10:00 am to noon. Participants meet at Fisherman’s Wharf. A free commmunity picnic will follow the walk at Windows on the Bay.  Hope to see you there!
