Taking a Break

After a long week of studying, it’s sometimes nice to take a short break! One of my favorite places in Monterey is an independent movie theater called Osio. They show about four to six movies a day that change every few days. A few months ago, they showed “The Wailing”. This week, they are showing “The Tunnel” and “Train to Busan”. It’s exciting to see two Korean movies showing at once in a theater that only shows 4-6 movies a day. In November, they will also be showing “Handmaiden”.

The theater is connected to a coffee shop called Cafe Lumiere. It is a very relaxing cafe that is great to spend time in chatting with friends and for studying. They have delicious coffee and friendly baristas! The cafe provides free Wi-Fi as well. Since it is connected to the theater, so you can grab a sandwich, some pastries, even a salad before you go watch a movie. It’s okay if you buy a glass of wine or a bottle of beer to take with you into the theater (they sell that too). You can enjoy it with your flavored popcorn. They give discounts for students so be sure to ask!
