Getting ready to leave!

While I’m imagining that this is what it will be like in Belize, I’m guessing that there will be a lot more work and less play than I’m expecting.

So what should pack as I plan to travel through Central America for the next three months?  Perhaps only a few sets of clothing and a laptop?  I’m still not quite positive!

The plan to land in Cancun the second week in June, head to Guatemala for a week or so and then head to Belize City to spend the next three weeks on the small island of Tobacco Caye with about 25 Belizeans and 4 project members.  We will be meeting a number of government officials, business owners, researchers and community members as we learn about this area and how it will be changing as it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Wow!!! You sound like you’re going to have some amazing adventures coming your way. So excited for you cousin. My advice, pack your bag and then take half the clothes out. You’ll buy gifts for yourself (*and others) that you can wear while you’re there. i have a yucatan book that you can have if you want. xoxoxo

Hey Anja,

Long time no talk. Still missing you on Jeju.

I’m just about finished three months of traveling myself, and my suggestion is go as light as possible. Some clothes, a toiletry bag, a flashlight and a laptop should be all you need. I took a lot with me and ended up tossing so much stuff along the way. All I use on a daily basis are my clothes and my toothpaste. If you’re someplace remote, bring some basic medicines and mogi repellent with you.

Have a good trip.*

* …now I want mushrooms.

    Mike! I’m still missing you and Jeju, its funny this picture made me so nostalgic for Hamdeok and especially our camping trips! Thanks for the advise on what to bring, sounds like I’ll just need one bag. Do you think I should bring a snorkel and flippers?

You look beautiful! Is this in Monterey or did you photoshop yourself into Belize? Visualization is the best tool for making things happen! So excited to see you grow and learn from this amazing experience!
