A young monk stands in the Gangteng Monastery, which we visited on our trip to the Phobjikha Valley. Established in 1613, the monastery is one of the most important seats of Nyingmapa Buddhism. It also serves as a makeshift orphanage, taking in boys from families that cannot afford to support them.
