About

Now approaching its seventh year, the Davis United World Scholars Fellowships at the Monterey Institute offers students concrete, skills-based instruction in three areas: international development, global trade, and nonproliferation studies.

These scholarships are provided through the generosity of Kathryn W. Davis, mother of Shelby M.C. Davis and visionary funder of the Davis Projects for Peace initiative. These professional summer opportunities range from four weeks to three months in length and provide undergraduate students with applied learning opportunities to develop skills to address current global issues.

You may already be familiar with the Monterey Institute of International Studies, a graduate school of Middlebury College. Located in Monterey, California and founded in 1955, the Institute is known for its graduate degree programs in translation, interpretation, language teaching, international policy, environmental policy, and international management. The Institute is the home of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, the world’s leading research and educational program committed to the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
