Language day at the DLI!

This past Friday, May 8th, the Defense Language Institute (or “DLI”) Of Monterey opened its doors to the public, and we in the MIIS ESL program took full advantage of this opportunity!

When we walked into the DLI premises, we needed to go through a security check, we needed to sign some papers, and then we waited for a bus to take us to the event. The bus came, took us to an undisclosed location, and then we were free to enjoy the event.

The event was better than all of my expectations before attending. There were hundreds of people attending the event, both civilian and military. There was dancing, there was food, and there were languages and people from all over the world.

Matt took a Russian proficiency test, and has a certificate to prove that he spoke with a DLI Russian language instructor, in Russian!
