The Food & Drug Administration is going to establish a nation-wide safety standard for the growing, harvesting, and packing of fresh fruits and vegetables.  As Monterey sits in the center of the “Salad Bowl” of America, it is extremely important for the MIIS community to make certain that the FDA has all the facts! Topics addressed will include: compost, wildlife/environmental concerns, water quality, worker health & hygiene.

This will be the only stakeholder meeting in California on this subject. The FDA intends to publish the new rules by October 2010.  Make your voice heard! FDA & USDA officials will be present at this meeting.

Attendance is FREE.  Space is limited, so register quickly:  www.producesafetyproject.org.
