Faculty Spotlight: Pablo Oliva

Congratulations to Pablo Oliva, Assistant Professor of Language Studies, who was recently honored with the 2010 Allen S. Griffin Award for teaching excellence!

The Allen S. Griffin Award was established in 1982 by a bequest from the late Col. Allen S. Griffin, former publisher of the Monterey Herald and founder and former president of the Community Foundation. The Griffin award honors teachers on the Monterey Peninsula with a record of sustained excellence in the classroom and significant impact in the community.

Professor Oliva has taught Teaching English as a Foreign Language courses in various schools in Buenos Aires, Argentina before emigrating to the US.  Since then he has worked at Craven Community College in North Carolina and Empire State College in New York. He has been teaching courses on methodology during summer time at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and designed curricula to teach medical Spanish and Long distance courses.
