MIIS Students Publish Sierra Leone Experiences

Professor Pushpa Iyer, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of Conflict Resolution here at MIIS, led 14 Monterey Institute and Middlebury students in a two-week course in Sierra Leone last January. Sierra Leone continues to struggle to build a stable civil society in the aftermath of a decade of brutal civil war that only ended in 2002. The Challenges in Peacebuilding Practicum allowed students to study firsthand this ongoing peacebuilding effort in the war-torn West African state.

Their experiences and reflections are now being published in a semi-weekly series on the Women’s International Perspective (WIP) website. The first two, by Dr. Iyer and Veronica Beebe (IPS), are currently available here.
