Summer Fellowship Opening with The Advocacy Project

Work for 10-12 weeks (June-August, 2011) full-time as a Peace Fellow with The Advocacy Project, for their partner organization, Association for the Defense of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners in Iran (ADAAP), based out of Vancouver, Canada.

The Advocacy Project has partnered with the Association for the Defense of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners in Iran (ADAAP) to report on Azerbaijani detainees in Iran and work with the Azerbaijani diaspora in North America. Iranian Azerbaijanis have recently been struggling for their rights, such as the right to education in the Azerbaijani-Turkic language, and the right to celebrate Azerbaijani culture and history. However, their demands have been violently suppressed by the Iranian authorities.

The chosen Fellow will be working with ADAPP this summer, out of their office in Vancouver, Canada to advocate on behalf of ADAAP, as well as assisting in their daily operations.

This fellowship is unpaid, however fundraising opportunities are available. The fellow will also be expected to attend a 3-day training in Washington DC at the end of May before deployment.

If you would like to apply please send a resume and one-page cover letter to AP Program Manager, Karin Orr, at fellowships@advocacynet.org. Deadline is May 9, 2011
