PAST EVENTS

2nd Annual MCYPG Wine Bus

On October 1st, almost 50 young professionals boarded a bus for a tour of Monterey County wineries. Little did they know, they were in for a special treat. Raffles prizes and trivia kept the excitement going in between wineries. A fabulous lunch provided by the C Bar, 4 wineries and a built in DD made this event top notch!

UPCOMING EVENTS

MONTHLY MCYPG HAPPY HOUR!!!

Join MCYPG for its second monthly happy hour on Tuesday, October 25th 5 to 7 p.m. in Salinas at Zeph’s One Stop on South Main. Enjoy specials on food and drink and meet other young professionals from around the County.

Last month’s happy hour at Post No Bills in Sand City was a huge success, and we expect this one to be just as awesome. If you can’t make it, join us in November back on the Peninsula!

 

FORUM FOR THE FUTURE

“Creating Opportunities for Tomorrow’s Leaders”

Come and celebrate local young leaders and find out more about leadership opportunities, including non-profit boards, leadership programs and government!

Whether it’s joining a local non-profit board, running for elected office, volunteering in your community or becoming more involved in hot-button issues, Forum for the Future is the chance to learn more! This event will feature three young professionals from Monterey County, telling their stories about the steps they took to get involved and what it has done for their family, career and community! In addition, local non-profits, municipalities and community-focused groups will also be present with information on how to get involved!

SALINAS VALLEY FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL MIXER

at the Taste of Monterey in Old Town Salinas

SALINAS VALLEY FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL WINEMAKERS DINNER

Saturday October 15

at the Salinas Valley Fish wine maker dinner

On Saturday, October 15th from 8-11pm, The Salinas Valley Fish House will host a Winemakers’ Dinner tokickoff The Salinas Valley Food and Wine Festival. The local wine being paired is Chateau Marie Antoinette. Owners and Winemakers from the winery will be present and share tasting notes. Chef Steve Kuboda will be in the middle of the action with some commentary and a visit with guests. The cost is $80. Tony, the owner of the Fish House, will have a special seating area in a prominent part of the restaurant. Space is limited as this is an exclusive event!!!

Professional Email Writing Workshop

Effective communication skills are essential for all professions. Yet, in a 2010 study conducted by the American Management Association, over 50% of employees were rated as “only average” in their communication skills, including email. Are your emails getting the results you want? Join Lisa Leopold, Assistant Professor at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and Danielle Pelletier, Program Director at English League, for a free 1.5-hour training session to hone your professional writing skills.

The workshop will be offered on Tuesday, November 8, from 7-8:30 pm in the Irvine Auditorium at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, located at 460 Pierce Street in Monterey.

 

MCYPG Sporting Event

Are you ready for some football? On November 20, 2011, the Monterey County Young Professionals Group will be heading to Candlestick Park to watch the San Francisco 49ers take on the Arizona Cardinals.

The game starts at 1:05 pm but we have a full day of fun planned for you, starting bright and early as the bus heads out of Monterey to Salinas and then on to San Francisco. Tailgating and games begin on the bus. Upon arrival at Candlestick, the MCYPG team will serve up a BBQ lunch and beverages for everyone on the bus. Then it’s game time.

The ticket price is $85, which will include your ticket to the game (great seats!!!!), transportation to and from Salinas or erey, BBQ lunch, and a chance to meet other great young professionals! Tickets will be available for purchase at http://mcypg49ersgame.eventbrite.com/or to avoid the Eventbrite fee, look for us selling tickets at upcoming MCYPG events!

Philanthropy Event

Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 17th for MCYPG’s Philanthropy Event. Spend a few hours volunteering your time and give back to the community that has given us so much. We have ideas, but if there is an organization you are involved in or you think could benefit from our labor please email Stefanie at StefanieB@hw-cpa.com.

NEW YEAR’S PARTY

Have a knack for event planning? Enjoy a good party? Here is a great time to get involved with the Monterey County Young Professionals. We will be having a New Year’s Eve Party on December 31st. Come and join our planning committee to make this the best New Year’s Eve party this area’s ever seen!
