We’re excited to announce that there will be screening of the documentary Miss Representation here on campus next Wednesday, March 14th. The program will be held from 6 – 8 pm in Irvine Auditorium. This film, produced, written & directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, explores the portrayal of women in the media as well as the lack of representation of women in leadership positions in government and the private sector – especially in media companies. For more information on the film and its associated movement, visit http://www.missrepresentation.org/the-film/.

After the film, there will be a panel discussion that includes Nina Alcarez (MIIS Alumna and Deputy Director of the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center), Zarmina Reshad (Current MPA student and Fulbrighter from Afghanistan), and Alicia Binneboese (a current student at Carmel High School). The event is being co-sponsored by MIIS and STOP: Anti Human Trafficking Club.

The panel discussion will be interpreted by the T&I practicum students.

We hope you will be able to join us for this very important event!
