Beryl Levinger, Ph.D. presents a talk about the New School (Escuela Nueva) movement in Colombia

Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Public Administration Program, Beryl Levinger, Ph.D., will kick start the Brown Bag Lunch Series of 2012.

This talk will describe the New School (Escuela Nueva) movement in Colombia, a sweeping educational reform that significantly expanded educational opportunities for poor and bypassed children. The New School approach has been implemented in more than 40 countries around the world and, today, after 40 years it is widely recognized as one of the world’s most successful programs for addressing educational equity challenges. Beryl was the co-creator of the original New School materials. Her Ph.D. dissertation analyzed the model’s potential for bridging the gap between rural and urban learners.
