Why continuity planning?

Businesses, NGO’s, and Governments are increasingly confronted with emergencies and disasters that threaten the continuity of their operations and services.  Among these disruptions are major storms and flooding, earthquakes, fires, terrorism, power outages, security breaches, and disease pandemics.  Many organizations have designed and implemented business continuity plans and a growing number are adding to or certifying their existing staff to plan and manage for continuity of operations.
