Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast’s Annual Conference Held at MIIS

The Monterey Institute of International Studies hosted the 2013 Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast (ASPAC) from June 7-8, 2013. Prof. Akaha, former President of ASPAC, was among the many organizers from MIIS who made this conference a success.
Under the motto “Looking Back, Moving Forward”, scholars and students presented on a variety of topics. Japan and China dominated the discussions, but Central and Southeast Asia were equally represented.
On Friday and Saturday evening, panelists and discussants enjoyed MIIS hospitality through the performance of Takeo drummers and Chinese instrumental musicians.
