In one of the recent issues of the Washington Post this week, Prof. Jeffrey Lewis commented on the situation of the intercepted vessel in Panama which had loaded old weapons from Cuba to be repaired in North Korea. He stated that despite the incident, the ties between Cuba and North Korea will most likely stay intact. He also said that North Korea will probably find other means to keep the business of repairing old weapons alive.
Jeffrey Lewis is an Adjunct Professor for the Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies program at MIIS. He is also the Director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at CNS.
