Miriam was born to a Palestinian father and an American mother in Madrid, Spain. At the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Miriam has focused on developing her Arabic language skills as well as her professional skills as a Mediator in the California Court System. To help her build and improve her skills in both these areas, Miriam was awarded the Kathryn Davis Fellowship for Peace to participate in Middlebury’s Summer Intensive Arabic Program, the US State Department Critical Language Scholarship in Morocco, and the National Security Education Program’s Boren Fellowship in Jerusalem. When she completes her Master’s degree, Miriam hopes to be part of an organization that facilitates change growth and progress in the Middle East.
