Lucyna Jodlowska

IBP Assignment: Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development – Sacred Valley, Peru

Lucy was born in Krakow, Poland, where most of her family still lives, but grew up and went to school in Chicago. She holds a BA in Political Science and Spanish from University of Illinois, and has worked as a consumer fraud investigator for several years for the Better Business Bureau. One of her biggest passions is photography, especially social documentary, which she likes to infuse with development work. She currently holds an MPA from MIIS and is working on finishing her MBA this summer. Lucy’s interests and future plans include working within the intersection of poverty alleviation via business and the private sector and the interplay of developed and emerging markets.

While at the Monterey Institute, Lucy interned for Oceana and the American Red Cross, and focused her work in program evaluation and poverty alleviation efforts. She served as a team leader for the Team Monterey El Salvador Development Practicum, working on a project assessing the impact of potable water on rural villages. During the summer of 2010, Lucy completed her MPA capstone in Uganda. This summer she completed her International Business Plan (IBP) working for the Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development in the Sacred Valley of Peru, developing a socially conscious vodka made of Peruvian potatoes.
