Master of Arts in Public Administration in International Management

DPMI Plus Placement: Institute of International Education 

Alyssa was born and raised in Massachusetts, and recently drove across the U.S. to attend Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS). She graduated in May of 2011 with a Master of Arts in Public Administration in International Management, a specialization in International Education, a Professional Certificate in Development Project Management, and cross-cultural training.

At MIIS, she participated in the Development Project Management Institute Practicum as an Educational Services Intern at the Institute of International Education’s West Coast Center (IIE). At IIE she assisted a team of five with the administration of the Foreign Fulbright Graduate Student Program and its Cultural Enrichment Program events, such as a 4-day Seminar for 150 Fulbright students on “Greening of the Planet: Global Challenges, Local Solutions,” that included a full-day volunteer activity at Golden Gate National Recreation Area. She worked on several projects to help improve the program’s success, reviewed official documents, aided the program’s transition to a paperless system, and became familiar with SEVIS, F-1 and J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa procedures as well as U.S. Department of State guidelines and grant administration processes.

While at College, she had a life changing experience studying abroad in Freiburg, Germany for two years at Freiburg University and became fluent in German. She holds B.A. degrees in German and Political Science and has as an International Relations Certificate from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Alyssa is passionate and determined to make a difference in the lives of others as a bridge-builder who is effective and efficient as well as creative and innovative. She is now looking for a great job opportunity in the San Francisco Bay Area!
