UN SDSN Youth, Climate Action Network & UN MGCY Internship

Summer 2017

This summer I continued my work with the UN SDSN Youth , and the UN MGCY, in addition to working with the director of Climate Action Network.

With the UN SDSN youth, I was a member of the Academic Advisory Committee (AAC) of thematic paper on the impact of Climate Change on Youth, Peace & Security in support of the Progress Study on Youth, Peace and Security mandated by UNSC Resolution 2250. The thematic paper focuses on countries in the Middle East and Africa. To reinforce the critical role of 1.1 billion youth in sustainable development globally, surveys and polls were launched in collaboration with the U-Report team at UNICEF.

Before that, and as a part of my work with the UN MGCY, I attended the High Level Political forum (HLPF) as a youth representative. The HLPF and in accordance with paragraph 84. of the 2030 Agenda, shall carry out regular voluntary reviews of the 2030 Agenda which will include developed and developing countries as well as relevant UN entities and other stakeholders. The reviews will be state-led, involving ministerial and other relevant high-level participants, and provide a platform for partnerships, including through the participation of major groups and other relevant stakeholders.

Working with Climate Action Network (CAN), I learned more about policy advocacy on the international level with relation to climate change. At the same time, I had the opportunity to do focused research on the active organization in Southeastern Asia that are working in Climate Change Issues. As a result of the successful experience working with CAN, my internship will be extended for the next December.
