Lewis Lenard, IEM 2018

CSU Todos Santos Center, Baja California

The mission of MIIS is to educate professionals to advance understanding, promote peace, and drive change in pursuit of a more just world. By visiting the Todos Santos Center, we were able to achieve alignment with MIIS’ mission by working closely with the Todos Santos community. For the D&A course, we remotely collaborate with Learning Partners and gain practical experience in the field of international education. Having the opportunity to meet with our Learning Partners at the CSU Todos Santos Center allowed us to gain more practical experience and observe the administrative and logistical aspects of running an international extension campus.By visiting the Todos Santos Center and interacting with our Learning Partner, we were able to gain more insight on our project. Through personal collaboration with our Learning Partner, we contributed to the Todos Santos Center team dynamics, as well as engaged directly with the program participants/stakeholders (local community members). Also, for our language of study at MIIS is Spanish, we were able to practice our Spanish, which in turn contributed to our intercultural competency skills and interactions with the local community members. I recommend taking advantage of international opportunities that come one’s way.
