China Dream Practicum

This was my first time not only in China but also in Asia, the beautiful flowers caught my attention as I did not perceive China as a country full of so many beautiful flowers. Yunnan is the largest producers of flowers in China. There, I got cookies filled with actual Roses cream, not forgetting to mention the delicious local food I ate, which is not like the Chinese food we find here in the United States.

While in China thanks to our professor Yuwei, Liang, and Teets, we visited and met with undergrad and graduate students, universities, policymakers, researchers, NGO’s, entrepreneurs businesses and various tech industries and stakeholders.

The recurrent question of what is the “China Dream” what always present in all our meetings. As to my surprise, the “China Dream” had a different meaning to each person we met in China, which I was not expecting.

The “China Dream” is a great concept difficult for others to understand, just asking one or two persons. If I did not go to China, I don’t think I would have been able to grasp the full meaning of the “China Dream”, which can be anyone’s strong desire for a better world for themselves and others. I think at the end of the day most human being have similar aspirations, such as better opportunities, economic and life stabilities, access to healthcare, better schools etc.… I don’t think China is different from any other country in the world. And that was my “China Dream” going to China, as I said it above it was my first time in China, I enjoyed it, as the trip enriched me culturally, personally and academically.
