Weibo, Pedagogical Scaffolding, and Learner Autonomy

How can pedagogical scaffolding be achieved for classes using Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, to promote learner autonomy? I will be sharing pedagogical scaffolding practices to demonstrate how Weibo can be introduced to students across all levels, used as a platform for course material sharing, student goal setting, and classroom interaction, to promote learner autonomy. This research investigates the researcher’s own teaching practices from multiple perspectives. The data used for analysis include teaching videos, lesson plans and materials, lesson reflections, student online posts, as well as student and supervisor feedback.
