Introduction

Technology and the translation industry go hand-in-hand, and new technologies to use for translation or localization are constantly emerging. It is fair to say that it is both vital and expected for a translator or localizer to have a working knowledge of CAT tools. I have hands-on experience working with a variety of CAT tools, including MemoQ, Memsource, and Trados Studio 21. I have also worked with a variety of translation management systems (TMS) such as WorldServer, XTM, and Wordbee. I have worked to gain skills using these technologies that are relevant to roles in translation, localization, and management. Some of these skills include:

  • Translation Memory (TM) creation
  • Document alignment
  • Using regular expressions (regex) and automated QA checkers to review translation
  • Termbase building and terminology management
  • File packaging and formatting
  • TMS analysis and usage
  • Understanding of NMT training

I am proud of these skills, and look forward to continuing to further my knowledge and competence of translation technology, and its varied uses. This portfolio serves to showcase projects I’ve worked on and demonstrate my application of skills.
