Introducing the Whitepaper Competition Series

The Fisher International MBA program is one of the world’s most unique. To highlight the diversity in ideology we accept as the norm within our hallowed halls, we present to you our new whitepaper competition series. Here is the first topic:

If you were to write a letter to the central bank of your home country (or a country you have lived in), what would it say? What questions would you ask? How have your professional, educational, and cultural experiences yielded valuable insights that you’d like to share? Would your voice be better used to encourage the status quo or demand change?

We look forward to hearing your thoughts in a short essay no longer than 700 words. Let us know if you would like to participate by Friday, October 28th. Email your essay to miis.mba@gmail.com by midnight Friday, November 4th.

Entries will be judged by MBA faculty, and the author of the entry selected as the best will receive the MontBlanc pen that Alex Becker uses every day in class. Just kidding. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Montrio Bistro, voted Best New Restaurant of the Year, 1995 by Esquire Magazine!

Top entries will be posted on the MBA Student Association Blog (with the author’s permission, of course), and we will announce winning entries in mid-November.

Join the New Fisher MBA LinkedIn Group

The MBA Student Association has recently created a new group on LinkedIn, the MIIS Fisher MBA Program Student-Alumni Partnership. The group will serve as a platform for continuing the promotion of a strong dialogue between current MBA students and MBA alumni for topical business discussions, job searches, and upcoming Fisher MBA events. We look forward to welcoming you to the group!

It’s time to dust off your boat shoes, because:

the MBA Student Association invites you to join us on Saturday, September 10th at 1pm to sail around the Monterey Bay.

Don’t know a starboard from a port? No problem! Monterey Sailing professionals will be taking the helm. $39 per person is steep, but can you really put a price on quality time with fellow MBA students while enjoying the breath-taking central coast from your very own vessel? Clearly, this experience is not to be missed!

Monterey sailing needs to hear from us a week in advance. So, please RSVP to us at miis.mba@gmail.com by Friday, September 2nd or sign up at the wine tasting tonight.

See you there!

PHOTO UPDATE: Saturday was the perfect day for a sail–one of Monterey’s nicest in memory. Thanks to everyone who joined us!
