About the Tutor

Hello everyone! My name is Yevgeniya Teyfukova, but you can call me Yevie (my American DSC_0662name) or Zhenya (my Russian name) and I will be your tutor and activity guide this summer. I am originally from Tashkent, Uzbekistan but I immigrated to the U.S. with my family at the age of 10. I consider Los Angeles to be my home base because that’s where my family lives, however I’ve lived all around California and in Russia. I graduated with a B.A. in Global Studies and Slavic Studies from University of California, Santa Barbara and studied abroad in Moscow my junior year. After college I tutored students in Russian at UCLA and organized cultural activities for their summer Russian program. I also had the opportunity to live in St. Petersburg for 9 months while participating in the Russian Language Flagship program, which is an innovative program that aims to increase students’ proficiency in a critical language. Currently I’m completing my graduate degree in International Education Management at the Monterey Institute and in the future hope to work with international students as an international student advisor. In my free time I enjoy doing yoga, being outdoors, watching movies and working on occasional crochet projects. And, I am excited to spend the summer with all of you!
