10th Annual MIIS Food Drive
As students, faculty and staff, we live with a relative level of comfort, surrounded by the beauty of the Monterey Peninsula. At the same time, there are members of the peninsula community who address food insecurity and hunger on a daily basis. Support the 10th Annual MIIS Food Drive and make a difference!
From December 2nd-13th you will find food drive barrels in the McCone lobby, the library, and the Samson Reading Room.
Drop off your food donations to any of these barrels. Donations will be collected each morning and weighed in hopes of reaching our “1000 pounds=one pound for every student, staff and faculty member on campus” goal.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. Only unopened, non-perishable, new food items will be accepted. Please do not donate partially consumed, dirty, or expired items. Examples of acceptable donations are:
- Canned soups, meats, fruits and vegetables
- Bagged rices, noodles, cereals, beans, dried soups, flour, sugar
- Boxed cereals, pastas, cake mixes and other boxed food items
- Jars of condiments (mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise), jams, peanut butter, soya sauce, etc
- Spices, instant food items
December 4th is our Pancake Breakfast Food Drive event at the Samson Center: 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.
For your donation of 4 non-perishable food items OR $5, you will enjoy a hot breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee— all for a great cause!
December 6th: Breakfast Day—consider a donation of boxed cereal, peanut butter, jam, dried milk, bottled juices.
December 10th: Lunch Day—consider a donation of mac and cheese, tuna, canned soup and more!
December 12th: Supper/Dinner Day—consider a donation of canned meat, soup, vegetables, pasta and sauce, rice, beans, cake or cookie mix.
Let’s support our community and do what we can to eradicate hunger in Monterey County!
